Survey Responses - Cameron Grubbs (D), County Clerk Candidate
What is your professional experience?
I bring decades of experience in customer service, with an emphasis in communication. From freelancing and starting my own small business to sales and working for one of the largest service companies in the World, leading teams across the nation, building data visualizations, I bring a significant amount of experience in translating difficult information into more easily understood material.
I've been an advocate for transparency, accountability and accessibility in Delaware County for the past 8 years. I also bring a never ending curiosity to make things better and would utilize my skills to both find ways to better serve the public while also being steadfast in protecting the Rights involved with the Clerk's office.

Key Issues
Please share with us your position on a number of issues that are key for Muncie Resists and describe what actions you would take with regard to them. We recognize that some elected positions may not have a direct role in addressing some of these issues, but if you had an opportunity to have an impact, what would you want that to be?
What have you done and/or what do you commit to doing to support the rights of
a. LGBTQ+ individuals?
As the office that handles marriage certificates, I would commit my effort and voice, within legal capabilities, to ensuring same-sex marriage is allowed and would advocate for change if the laws no longer protected it.
b. people with disabilities?
I would commit to seeking input from the public on ways to improve accessibility and remove barriers that may currently be an issue, expecially when voting. This also may include finding resources to help ease communications.
c. people experiencing poverty?
I would commit to listening to advocacy groups to find ways to limit what barriers there might be. I'd like to work on helping ensure every eligible voter is able to cast their vote, which may mean working with organizations for transportation and ensuring people are aware of means that don't require them to physically come to the office or ballot.
d. immigrants?
I would commit to finding ways to reduce language barriers for people and helping educate them to the resources the office provides.
e. people who are racial or ethnic minorities/minoritized individuals?
I would commit to reaching out and hearing how the office could better serve them and finding ways to implement better practices.
What have you done and/or what do you commit to doing to support voter access? (This might include your position on vote centers, polling hours, voter IDs, signature matching, the SAVE act, etc.)
I have been an advocate against the suppression of Rights, enumerated and not. I would commit to doing everything within my power to make secure the Constitutional Rights of all people. I would advocate for longer polling hours and more vote centers. It is understandable to want election integrity upheld and to know your vote was counted correctly, but it cannot come at the cost of limiting the RIghts of others. There is a balance to be found. I stand firmly against laws that restrict the capability of people to have a voice in their government.
In recent months, federal agencies have overstepped the power of local and state governments. In what contexts would you support resistance by local officials?
I would work within the laws to find every way available, including attending protests, and using my position to advocate against government overreach and the threats to our Constitutional Rights.
In recent months, federal agencies have overstepped the constitutional rights of the people. How would you protect and defend our constitutional rights?
I would challenge requirements placed upon the office if they were not legally and morally sound. I want the people of Delaware County to know that I would not be some pushover who would find votes for the President or Governor, nor would I stand by if there were pressure to withhold marriage certificates. I would comply with laws, but if they limited Rights, I wouldn't be quiet about it.
What have you done and/or what do you commit to doing to support healthcare access for all?
While I don't believe that the office has any say on healthcare access, I do believe that healthcare is a Right. I would advocate for the best option for all employees of Delaware County.
